Cabin Fever

by Rene A. Moncivais 9/23/03

What a great film. I could not believe this movie. It is a mix of Evil Dead and Deliverence. The film starts with some backwoods guy bringing a dead rabbit to his dog that appears to be dead. He tries to move the dog and it splits open and squirts blood in his face, this is the only explanation of how the 'Cabin Fever' starts. The film actually follows 5 teenagers who rent a cabin in the woods. All hell breaks loose when one of the teens, who goes out to shoot squirrels, accidently shoots the backwoods diseased guy. The guy asks for help from the teen. Well, needless to say he doesn't help the guy. The backwoods guy later comes across the cabin and a fight ensues and the teens light the guy on fire, and he runs off. That is all I will write about the story becuase now I have to praise this movie. I wasn't expecting this movie to be as good as it was. It's low budget, but it looks great. The camera work is very well done as well as the acting. Giuseppe Andrews is really funny as the Deputy who finds the teens at the Cabin. James DeBello is also good as one of the teens. I just can't praise this movie any more. It is also very funny and very dark. This has to be one of the best horror movies to come out in a long time. I am looking forward to seeing what Eli Roth can do next time.
