Sixth Annual Colonial Theatre Spooktacular
35mm "FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN" Screening in Keene, NH - Sunday, October 30, 2011

Classic monsters collide in Keene, NH at The Colonial Theatre's SPOOKTACULAR, Sunday, October 30th 2011 at 3PM. Curated by Saturday Fright Special, New Hampshire's first home-grown horror host TV show, the event features a rare 35mm screening of the 1943 Universal monster classic FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. Before the film they run "a heaping helping of vintage 35mm monster movie trailers," a cartoon, and other old theater clips to help take the audience "back to those thrilling days of yester-fear." The host of Satrurday Fright Special, Scarewolf, introduces the film live on stage, and prizes to be given away including a pair of original sketches by comic artist S.R. Bissette (SWAMP THING, TYRANT, TABOO), as well as DVDs, T-shirts, posters and more. "All in all it's a fun trip into the way-back machine for monster movie fans."

About the flm: The 1943 film was Universal's first attempt at pairing up their famous monsters on film, with Lon Chaney, Jr. returning to his role as Larry Talbot, cursed to become the WOLF MAN whenever the moon is full. Portraying the Frankenstein monster for this installment is Bela Lugosi, in his first and only time in the role, one that he was initially offered after DRACULA years earlier but turned down, affording Boris Karloff his big break. In the film, Talbot seeks a cure for his hair-raising reaction to the full moon by reviving the secrets within dark walls of Castle Frankenstein, including the frozen-in-ice Frankenstein monster.
