First
Grindhouse Grind-Out Competition
Knoxville Horror Film Fest
Knoxville, Tennessee
The Knoxville Horror Film Festival,
in its third year, introduces the first annual KHFF GRINDHOUSE GRIND-OUT.
A timed filmmaking competition that gives teams 6 days and 66 minutes to write,
shoot and edit an extended exploitation/grindhouse-style movie trailer, to
be exhibited at the Knoxville Horror Film Festival, October 22-23.
The Grindhouse Grind-Out competition
will kick off on Thursday October 13 at 6pm at Relix Variety Theatre and wrap
up October 19, just in time for our 2011 festival that weekend.

At the kickoff event, teams
will draw numbers at random and then pick (in order of number drawn) from
a list of exploitation genres both real and imagined. Using that -- and maybe
a few other fun obstructions -- as a jumping off point, teams will have a
little under a week to produce a movie trailer, no longer than four minutes,
in the style of those glorious grindhouse previews of yore.
Teams may register at the kickoff
event for a fee of $25 per team, or pre-register through the KHFF website
for only $20.
