We made it down to The Haunted Cavern at
Ruby Falls located at Lookout Mountain on the Tennessee/Georgia state line.
It was a real good time and one of the very best haunts we’ve been to
this year. I’m thinking it’s probably the “scariest”
one of the year for us. They had some very talented actors who were relentless
when they identified a fraidy cat.
The fun starts before you even enter as zombies
terrorize the line and even the parking lot. They gurgle and screech in your
face and slide on their knees, setting off bright, trailing showers of sparks.

If you are claustrophobic, you are going
to have a really hard time with this place. The above ground portion is nice
and open, but then you are crowded into the “Hellevator” for a
high tech, frightening crash landing into the depths of the cave. Once in
the cave, there is zero light and small tunnels which may cause you to duck
most of the way.
Once you get
underground, the only light is provided by glow sticks given to about every
4th person. This means you can only see about 2-3 feet around you, with menacing
darkness all around the edges. This is where the undead miners lurk. Really
great costumes and atmosphere along with top-notch action are on display at
the Haunted Cavern. They are having a $5.00 off deal tonight, Halloween, so
get out there… last chance.
