Writings in Support of the West Memphis Three (3/30/04 -Goblinhaus exclusive) "Last Pentacle of the Sun" featuring Barker, Straub, Brite, Little, Cho, Hetfield & more.
Slated for an October 2004 release, a big batch of heavyweights comes together to release a collection of illustrations, case-related fiction and essays inspired by and in support of the West Memphis Three.
If you aren't familiar with the three men and their tragic history, find and watch Paradise Lost immediately, and read about current developments at WM3.org. Many of us can relate to the condemning looks, the air of suspicion, the flat ignorant judgments that you are subject to as a teenager when you are "different." Someone who"dresses funny," who enjoys heavy music, who might enjoy reading horror novels and has long hair. These things are often compounded in small towns and the hysteria in West Memphis Arkansas reached such a fever pitch around the murder of three young boys that the WM3 were convicted of a Satanic cult killing based, apparently, on no more evidence than the coerced (not to mention illogical and improbable) confession of a mentally handicapped teenager and the fact that they listened to Metallica and read Stephen King.
It's a disturbing trend of intolerance and mania, one that we have been experiencing the last couple of years on a nationwide scale revolving around the "war on terror" and the (unrelated) war in Iraq. However, it speaks to many of us. So much so that this group of talents has contributed to the cause, and they aren't the first.
I know this case is not new "news" but a man is on death row and two others are serving life sentences with no physical evidence to confirm their guilt. It's great to see Arsenal Pulp Press and these authors keeping the cause alive.
